We'll tell you the truth!:..In times of world economic crisis and military budgets cuts, we were prepared to a low budget moderate airshow this year. We (fortunately) were wrong!!...The organizers of The Royal International Air Tattoo 2010 put together a great airshow with dramatic breathtaking flying displays and enjoyable entertainment on the ground! 2010 Air Tattoo main themes were "Training" and "Battle of Britain 70th anniversary", being this last one graced with a massive flypast of different formations of Spitfires, Hurricanes, Me-109, Mirage 2000, F-16s, Boeing 757, F-15s and many others. The typical British summer weather with many clouds, light rain and a few sunny intervals did not affect much the flying display program with some of the major stars of the airshow circuit performing their best acts. Surely one of the most interesting and long waited display was the F22 Demo Team that, after the 2008 short and incomplete appearance, finally showed to the public a dynamic and fantastic performance with incredible monouvers and high-g vapour passes...that's also why the F-22 performance won 2 awards: the "King Hussein Memorial Sword" for the best overall flying demonstration and the "Paul Bowen Trophy" as the best jet demonstration. Other gems of the flying display were the Airbus A-400M, the USAF C-17, the powerful F/A-18F Super Hornet, the Belgian and Dutch F-16 demo teams, the Dutch Apache Demo, the Swedish Gripen, the Harrier GR9, as well as the Patrouille de France, the fabolous Red Arrows, the Patrouille Suisse and the Italian new display team "WE-FLY!" flown by disabled pilots who put together a colorful and very nice display. The Royal Air Force contributed to the show with all its major assets including a marvellous combined exhibition of the Eurofighter together with a Spitfire...what a sight!!Last but not least the mighty Avro VULCAN B2 another time in the air for the 2010 season, acclaimed from the public with a smart and perfect display ..let's hope to have it in the airshow circuit for a long time!!. A perfect organization and the efforts of all the volounteers made the 2010 Royal International Air Tattoo one of the best of the last years..it will become harder and harder for the organizers to keep for the future years such a high level show as the world air forces are facing consistent cuts at their financial resources..but we all are confident they'll do their best for giving us the best 2011 edition they can get as it will be RIAT 40th birthday! Enjoy the pictures!!!
