17-23.07.2006
The Farnborough International 2006 edition was a great one! In July some of the newest aircraft , both military and civilian, were on display (flying and/or static) and could be admired in blue skies and perfect photography weather.
As far as the civil aviation is concerned the highlights of the week were for the majestic Airbus A-380 with an impressive flying display, considering it is a huge machine.
Its rival, the Boeing 777 was only static so we could not se it in live-action. For the military industry the most surprising display was the one of the MIG-29 OVT. The Klimov engines that gave the thrust vectoring capability (OVT)Â showed the Mig-29 in incredibles manouvers.
Other remarkable display were the F/A-18F Super Hornet, the Saab Gripen, the MV-22 Osprey, the F-16C and the Eurofighter Typhoon.
One of the most interesting display, in fact, was the Typhoon one, fully loaded with bombs and missiles…quite a rare, if not unique, view in airshows!! The Italian industry was present with Finmeccanica, Alenia and Aermacchi presenting the new trainer M-346 in a colorful blue paint!.Â
